Introduction To Witchcraft, Nature Magic And Earth Magic

Magic Introduction

Earth magic is the country’s ancient magic. When I speak of witchcraft (“Craft”), I mean “nature magic”, ie the “old way” as some call it. I’m not talking about today’s “Wicca”.

Earth magic is the country’s ancient magic. Practising earth magic means building an intense relationship with the country.

This relationship can become an intense friendship and it can ask for as much as a personal relationship with a person or an animal, yes, in some special cases even the comparison with marriage may not be wrong. In this sense, I would like to define earth magic as friendship with the land, because in its way it can be just as fulfilling and rewarding as friendship with a person or an animal.

Nowadays you often meet people who tell you that they are witches or go the old way but without being connected to a certain piece of land. It’s like saying someone is friends or even married, but not with someone specific, but more “so general”.

In fact, it may be that someone generally feels connected to humanity, but usually, this is not mutual. And if this person has never had a close relationship with a real person, then he or she should have little or no social skills. It is the same with a general closeness to nature, against which there is really nothing wrong.

However, there is no resonance on the part of nature and it does not lead to a mutual exchange with it. It is different with earth magic. The earth magician or witch has an intense, mutual relationship with the land. The country has wished for the earth magician or the witch and vice versa. Both find what they are looking for: the country and the people.

If someone who practices earth magic in this way and has experience in earth magic enters a new piece of land, then they will be able to establish an intensive relationship with the country relatively quickly, just as someone who is very involved with people will find friends faster because he has the appropriate social skills.

Someone who is only “in touch with nature” never learned to build a real relationship with the country because there is no “general earth magic”, just as there is no “impersonal friendship”. Magical work with principles that belong to the super-personal sphere is a characteristic of high ceremonial magic and not of earth magic. The art of witchcraft, nature magic or earth magic is a kind of counterpart to ceremonial magic, which is more aimed at the higher spheres.

Natural magic draws its strength from direct contact with the land, the plants and the four elements, which are understood here less as spiritual principles and more as natural forces. that belong to the super-personal sphere is a characteristic of the high ceremonial magic and not of the earth magic. (Incidentally, there is a comparable phenomenon in ceremonial magic. If someone is an initiate of the Western mystery tradition, then he is in a very specific line of tradition. There are no general initiates.)

The difference between earth magic, ceremonial magic and Wicca

At this point, it may be necessary to clarify the difference between earth magic, ceremonial magic and wicca in order to clearly define what earth magic is and what it is not.

Put simply, earth magic is low magic and ceremonial magic is high magic.

Wicca is actually not a magical path at all, but a religion with magical elements. Wicca is not an “old religion”, but was spread and propagated by retired British official Gerald Gardner in the late 1940s. The term Wiccafirst appeared in his book “Witchcraft Today” (published in 1954) and is probably due to the Anglo-Saxon term for a male fortune teller.

The feminine form is “Wicce”, from which the general English word “Witch” for a (female) witch is derived. Wicca is a modern construct that neither builds a real relationship with the country nor does it reach into the high spheres of ritual magic.

Thus, Wicca has neither embraced the advantages of one way nor those of the other. The reason for this strange mixture is probably the influence of Aleister Crowley 4 to Gerald Gardner, even if many Wicca fans may not like to hear it.

This strange mixture almost inevitably means that the depths or heights of spiritual work remain closed. One and the same person can practice both earth magic and high ritual magic, but they cannot do it at the same time, just as you cannot ask and order someone at the same time – this parable is only intended to illustrate why you cannot do both at the same time, it is not an adequate representation of the relationship between the ceremonial and earth magical ways.

(Many of today’s Wicca followers seem to want to avoid this problem by using more and more shamanic techniques, but shamanism is also an independent way,

Incidentally, I do not want to give the impression that I fundamentally reject Wicca. I just want to emphasize that it shouldn’t just be synonymous with “witchcraft”.

For many people, it offers a first introduction to the topic of magic and it makes this topic popular, which is a great achievement.

I will try to illustrate the difference between earth magic, ceremonial magic and wicca by an analogy. Earth magic is like working a piece of land to make fertile farmland, to feed my family and my village.

Ceremonial magic is like building a temple in the countryside to worship and connect with the highest spiritual principle. Wicca is like building a party shed for myself to celebrate family celebrations, which is a good thing in itself and not a bad thing at all, but it is neither for survival nor for a higher purpose.

The Earth Mage builds a deep connection with the country’s forces in order to live in harmony with them.

The ceremonial magician builds a deep connection with the highest spiritual powers to live in accordance with God’s will and to change the world in which he lives.

Wicca does neither because Wicca is an exoteric religion and not an esoteric spiritual path. Wicca enables people who are not familiar with the well-known concepts of religion to live an alternative form of religion that has been used in its symbolism both from elements of the earth magic tradition and from elements of the Western mystery tradition.

Every religion has its spiritual roots, and so the western religions have emerged from the western mystery tradition and form, so to speak, an introduction to the spiritual teachings.

As I said, Wicca is also such a religion (and sees itself as a religion) and can be a gateway for the spiritual seeker, both to earth magic and to high ceremonial magic.

Despite the apparent preference for earth magic symbols in the Wicca, the religious practice of Wicca, as it was founded by Gardner, is actually closer to ceremonial magic than the old witch cult. This is no coincidence, because Crowley, who inspired and presumably led Gardner, was himself a ceremonial magician.

Wicca was created for people who feel repelled by the Christian church.  Aleister Crowley encouraged Gardner to develop Wicca because he saw it as a way to share some of his (ie Crowleys!) Teachings.

From the start, Wicca was not intended to train people in the sense of an esoteric-spiritual training path or to awaken advanced magical powers in them.

On the contrary, Crowley was not at all interested in advanced magical techniques finding their way into Wicca through Gardner and due to the dilemma described above, this is not feasible anyway.

(Which does not mean that an inherently powerful person could not produce some interesting effects through the methods of Wicca, only in this way you will neither experience a deep connection with the country nor reach the higher spheres of magic.)

The Wicca rituals are religious rituals that are no more or less magical than a Catholic mass.

However, in the former case, their external form is such that they contain more elements that are associated with the subject of magic by the average person.

The prayers or ceremonies of other religions can also have some effect, but they are therefore far from being equivalent to magical training.

In summary, we can say that Wicca is a valuable enrichment of their lives for many people and the community of this religion fills a gap that has arisen through the politics of the church, but Wicca is still not a magical education, just as little as a study of theology or a Catholic seminary are a magical education.

It is an external, ie exoteric path, which unfortunately often pretends or gives the impression of being the inner, ie esoteric core and this is very unfortunate since in these circumstances it is of course often laughed at just like a primary school that pretends to be a university.

This bad relationship between Wicca and both the way of earth magic on the one hand and the way of high magic, on the other hand, would be avoidable and is, therefore, all the more lamentable.

This grievance naturally leads to disappointments on the part of the seekers. Many seekers who are attracted to the old traditional nature magic turn to the Wicca because they believe the old way no longer exists.

When experiencing the limitations of the Wicca, try to replenish them using techniques from other cultures, which rarely leads to better results.

However, the old way is by no means extinct, even today it is still possible to learn the old witchcraft.)
